From Huntly Square head east down Duke Street onto Bogie Street and across the Bogie Bridge. (1) After passing under the railway bridge go up the hill and take the dirt road to the left opposite the train station car park. (2). Carry on along this road which soon becomes a track alongside the right of the railway.

Once reaching Kinnoir Wood the track climbs steeply up. Take a right (3) once reaching the junction and head uphill, then take the next left through the gate and follow this forest road through the woods for 2km, skirting around the Hill of Mungo. Once you reach the junction, (4) on the far side, head left down past the houses and a righthand bend will take you down onto a single-lane road. (5)

Turn left along the quiet road for 2km until it turns sharply left. Take a sharp right here (6) up a track signed for the farm Bogenspro. Follow this track generally heading north passing 4 farms (be wary of tractors using the road). Once past Red Hill House, (7) the track heads downhill and the surface becomes tarmacked. Turn right at the T junction. (8) Rothiemay will come into view across the bridge over the River Deveron.

Return the same way or loop back to the Mungo by carrying along the quiet single-track road on the right after crossing the Rothiemany Bridge.
